Motorcycle Registration Costs in Victoria

All You Need to Know

Whether you're a new or experienced rider, registering your motorcycle in Victoria is essential. But how much does it cost? Here's a breakdown of all the fees involved:

Registration Fee

The base registration fee for a motorcycle in Victoria is currently $30. This fee is payable annually and covers the cost of your registration plate, sticker, and other associated costs.

TAC Levy

The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) levy is a compulsory charge that is included in your registration fee. The levy helps to fund the TAC's services, which include providing compensation to victims of road accidents.

The TAC levy for motorcycles is currently $495.20. The actual amount you pay will depend on your suburb or postcode.

Club Permit Fees

If you plan to participate in organised motorcycle events, you will need to purchase a club permit. Club permits are issued by motorcycle clubs and allow you to ride on private and public land.

The cost of a club permit varies depending on the club and the type of permit you require. However, you can expect to pay around $117.60 for a 45-day permit and $191.90 for a 90-day permit.

Additional Fees

In addition to the fees listed above, you may also need to pay additional fees if you:

  • Register a new motorcycle that has never been registered in Victoria
  • Need to replace a lost or damaged registration plate or sticker
  • Want to apply for a concession or exemption on your vehicle registration
